Honors students at UMD enjoy a living-learning community of bright scholars, gifted professors, and dedicated staff. The sophisticated academic offerings and close-knit community of the Honors College offers students a small liberal arts college experience nestled within the rich, diverse, and abundant opportunities of a big research institution. With a prime location in the Washington, D.C. area, students have access to internship and cultural opportunities available nowhere else.

Honors Citation Ceremony

The Honors Citation Ceremony recognizes students who successfully complete the requirements of their living-learning programs. The special ceremony brings together students, families, and the honors community to celebrate student achievement. At the ceremony, students are awarded Honors College scholarships, research grants, and a student from each living-learning program is recognized with the Portz Outstanding Honors Student Award. Family Weekend

Family Weekend is the largest university-sponsored event for parents and family members. It’s a wonderful opportunity for families to spend time on campus with students and celebrate being part of the university community.
