Awards for Honors Students: National Scholarships

National scholarships are highly competitive, prestigious awards that provide opportunities and support for many different experiences, including study abroad, graduate study (and sometimes undergraduate study), federal employment, teaching, research, and public service.

The Rhodes Scholarship and the Fulbright Scholarship are two of the most recognizable national scholarships. However, numerous other scholarships are available across a wide range of interests and disciplines. National scholarships are available for students with or without financial need, and at all stages of their academic careers.

Starting to prepare early is critical for a successful scholarship application. The UMD National Scholarships Office can assist honors students at all stages of the search and application process.
